The Patio – Together We Feast

The Concept-

Contemporary Pan African restaurant in the heart of Farringdon with the goal of bringing Nigerian food, cocktails and music. The Patio provides casual dining and entertainment to families and friends in a beautiful contemporary designed environment. The venue combines 2 floors of restaurant, bar, club and rooftop terrace in one building, creating a place for each and everyone. It is a multi functional venue, which allows people to enjoy a modern take on traditional African food, whilst dining, dancing or enjoying the rooftop bar.

How we helped-

Brandi Akpobome the founder of The Patio, got in touch early 2o22 with the ambition of opening a Pan African contemporary restaurant. Having not had much in the way of previous hospitality experience she engaged Lumiere consultancy to guide her along the journey of opening her first site in the the UK. The family have previous businesses in Lagos including a similar restaurant concept, but we adapted this to the London market.

The first port of call was to round out the concept and create a landlord pack. After much searching we settled on 26th Smithfield street and negotiated with the Landlord.

Having engaged with a contractor who really understood the concept MDC Group designed, space planned and constructed the Patio, with Brandi’s vision.

Keys were returned in late September and then the race was on to get open. During the period of construction we undertook.

Full menu design and development
Introduction to contractors, suppliers.
Took care of licence transfer, registration with accountants and local authorities
Recruitment of key staff members
Marketing and social media
Full support for the opening of the restaurant including an opening night celebration

The menu was designed to be obviously Nigerian/Pan African and to remain culturally authentic, but also to add a contemporary twist in terms of presentation or ingredients. We felt that African food in its foundation is tasty, filling and joyful and that really needed to be the centre of this project. We really wanted The Patio to be a celebration of African food and culture.

Ongoing support-

Whilst the Patio continues to build its profile, we look for new opportunities and revenue streams. Whilst advising on strategy and service standards.
